One thing you have to remember: Disneyland is not at all like Orlando. Disney learned from his experiences in Anaheim... for example, he set up a bunch of shell corporations, and bought ALL the land around his resort for miles. So you have to go for MILES to see a private hotel. All the land around WDW is owned by Disney. In Anaheim, Disney only owns a fraction of what is owned in Florida. So you don't have all those hotels with different themes.

My advice is to go HoJo. The Howard Johnson Hotel is on Harbor, right across the street from Disneyland, and a very short walk to the entrance. It has a themed pool area for kids to play in, and should fit the bill perfectly.
